Greetings loyal fans of Hands On Health! My name is Makarita Waiari an
I became certified as a personal trainer in 1996 through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and earned a degree in Physical Education and Exercise Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I studied massage therapy at the Body Therapy Instititute in Siler City, NC. I hold a Massage and Bodywork Therapy License in North Carolina. I am a member of IDEA, a resource for fitness professionals and enthusiasts, and the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). I’ve known Laura since 1995 and she has shown she can put together a continuing education school worth attending. I have taken four of the I-NMT courses: Abdomen/Torso/Breath, Lumbar and Pelvis, Thigh and Lower Extremities, and Thoracic Outlet and Shoulder Mobilizers. I’ve also taken Movement Repatterning and Ethics courses with Bodywork Therapy Seminars.
My passion for teaching comes from recognizing the need to fill in the knowledge gaps in our digital marketplace. Keeping up with digital evolution while forging ahead in business is a tough challenge for massage therapists. With my background in social media and small business online advertising, I make a difference between a great day and a great massage therapy treatment day soiled by hair pulling business frustrations. The director of Bodywork Therapy Seminars recruited me after noticing my presence online and learning that I teach classes in the subject matter. The courses you will see me most involved in teaching with BTS are Essentials Of Social Media , Getting Smart With Facebook Ads, and some of the Ethics classes. I look forward to meeting you in class!
