Introduction to Advanced Massage Modalities

Description:
This hands-on course introduces an array of massage therapy tools and techniques aids in clinical approaches to massage therapy. Learn the theoretical foundations, benefits, contraindications, and proper application methods for introductory application. Through hands-on lab practice, you can develop and integrate these modalities into a comprehensive massage treatment plan for optimal client outcomes.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will: 1) be equipped with foundational knowledge of advanced massage modalities and their physiological effects. 2) safely demonstrate basic application techniques for handheld percussive devices, cupping, muscle floss bands, and elastic taping. 3) identify when and why specific modalities would be beneficial for different client conditions. 4) recognize the different wound healing stages and their corresponding levels of contraindications or safety considerations as they pertain to each modality. 5) conduct a proper health history intake to identify if a modality is deemed appropriate for that client. 6) effectively communicate the benefits and limitations of each modality to clients.

PREPARING FOR CLASS:

We will reach out if we need you to bring a massage table. Most of the time, a table is available for use. If you cannot bring a table, you can let us know at the time that we reach out. Bring comfortable layered clothing for warmth or feeling too cool and include a sports bra for women and elastic stretch shorts for men and women. Bring table covering (bottom sheet only) and a face cradle.
